Human Nature

Human Nature was written by Steve Porcaro and lyricist John Bettis, and released in 1982 on Thriller by Michael Jackson. Originally developed from a demo by Porcaro of Toto, the song became one of the most atmospheric and enduring recordings from the Thriller era. Its late-night mood and restrained melody gave it a very different character from many of the album’s larger pop singles, and it has remained influential across pop, jazz, and R&B interpretations ever since.
