Fools Rush In
“Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear to Tread)” was written in 1940 by Johnny Mercer (lyrics) and Rube Bloom (music). The famous opening line comes directly from an 18th-century poem by Alexander Pope, which Mercer adapted into one of the most memorable standards of the Great American Songbook. The song was first recorded by Glenn Miller and soon became a hit for Tommy Dorsey and his orchestra with Frank Sinatra on vocals, later revived by Elvis Presley in 1963. Its lyric of love and risk has resonated across generations. Here, Jason Paul performs “Fools Rush In” with acoustic guitar and voice, bringing a fresh intimacy to this timeless classic. 👉 Quiz: Which poet inspired “Fools Rush In”?
