“Theme from A Summer Place” was composed in 1959 by Max Steiner for the film A Summer Place. While the film itself has faded, the theme became one of the most famous melodies of the 20th century. In 1960, Percy Faith’s instrumental recording spent nine weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the longest-running #1 instrumental hit in chart history. Later versions with lyrics, including recordings by Andy Williams and others, kept the theme alive for decades. Here, Jason Paul performs “Theme from A Summer Place” with acoustic guitar and voice, offering a stripped-down interpretation of this classic melody. 👉 Q: Which instrumental spent 9 weeks at #1 in 1960?
